Dear JCPSC Member,
Our colleague and dear friend, Maxine Meyer, passed away on January 20, 2017. Maxine's career and life were spent working within the Jewish Community, both as a professional and as a volunteer.
At the Jewish Federation, she spent her first few years in the Accounting Department and then became an integral member of the Campaign staff where, among many other assignments, she organized and participated in small and very large missions to Israel and other countries. She then went to work at the JFS/SOVA Community Food and Resource Center, where her passion for serving the most vulnerable, combined with her community outreach efforts made a great impact.
Maxine was a longtime active member of Jewish Communal Professionals of Southern California where she served as an officer, holding a variety of leadership positions, and was a regular member of the Awards Dinner Committee.
Maxine was also a proud recipient of the Alan J. Kassin Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement in 2000. Over the course of her career, she was known to her colleagues, lay leadership, volunteers and Jewish communal organizations throughout Los Angeles County as a woman with a heart of gold.
She was an extremely caring, thoughtful, energetic, enthusiastic, hardworking, fun loving and compassionate woman. She will be greatly missed.
